In his “State of the County” address in February 2023, County Executive David Crowley said, “When I was sworn in three years ago, I said that I was determined to move Milwaukee off the list of most segregated communities in the country. Many asked how we would accomplish that feat and my answer was simple: partnerships and collaboration. . . Partners like Wauwatosa Mayor Dennis McBride and West Allis Mayor Dan Devine [have] championed our efforts to invest $15 million in federal funds to create affordable housing in their respective cities. . .”
